On 11th November 2020, Ministry of Heavy Industries had released the Electrical Equipment Quality Control Order (QCO), 2020 for eight Low Switch gear components and same have been notified in the regime of Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) of BIS. Ministry had extended the date of implementation by six months i.e., 10th May 2023.
The recent extension has been given considering the non-availability of test infrastructure and no release of series guidelines yet.

Since the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 does not define “year”, the definition of
“year” given in section 3(66) of the General Clauses Act, 1897 applies, which defines “year” to mean a
year reckoned according to the British calendar. Therefore, for the purpose of HSE exemption, “year”
shall be reckoned as calendar year.
The plugs/sockets may be precertified to international standards. However, the configuration and dimensions of pins of sockets and plugs or plug part of products with built-in plugs should be as per the current edition of IS: 1293. However, ISI marking on plugs and sockets is not mandatory
As plugs and sockets have been notified by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal
Trade (DPIIT) under the scheme I of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulation, 2018 vide Gazette Notification No. S.O. 2166 (E) dated 07.06.2021.
Accordingly, all the plugs and sockets shall comply to IS 1293, as amended from time to time.
Multimedia Speaker System with USB / SD / EM Playability (with power consumption < 200 watts), Car Audio Amplifier (with power consumption < 2000 watts) and Car Head Unit with USB / SD / FM / AM / Aux Playability (with power consumption < 200 watts) These products are not within the scope of the Order

For the FGP LED Luminaires
Photometric test shall stand exempted for
the purpose of CRS as the scope of existing
