On Nov 1st 2022, TEC moved some of the products from GCS to SCS Scheme. GCS (General Certification Scheme) and SCS (Simplified Certification Scheme). Our earlier LinkedIn post and our Newsletter covered this elaborately. Recently, TEC has updated the process for SCS and will be in effect from Jan 1st 2023.
Following is the change in process of SCS under Clause 6.2 of the MTCTE procedure TEC 93009:2021:
- Under the SCS currently, the need to submit test reports of the product was not necessary. Now for all products under the SCS, the process remains exactly the same as to that of GCS applications, with addition of submitting a Self-Declaration of Conformity (SDoC).
This means all Test reports must also be submitted, while TEC may not evaluate these, however, TEC reserves the right to seek any clarifications from the applicant, if any.
The benefit is that TEC states the certificate will be issued within 15 working days from the date of submission of application.
