All electrical appliance and renewable energy product makers and exporters to the Ghanaian market will be required to comply with 19 new rules beginning November 2, 2023.
The following appliances must follow these guidelines in order to meet the Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) and get the Energy Guide Label from Ghana’s Energy Commission.

- Microwave ovens
- Washing machine
- Rice cookers
- Electric kettles
- Industrial fans
- Solar panels
- Television sets
- Set-top boxes
- Computer systems
- Ventilating fans
- Storage water heaters
- Renewable energy batteries
- Public lighting
- Improved biomass cookstoves
- Electric motors
- Air conditioners
- Distribution transformers
- Comfort fan inverters
Ghanaian designers and importers of these products must utilise a certified laboratory to test them and submit a test result together with the associated label and appropriate product information to the Energy Commission’s website in order to register the product.
